Learning while having fun isn't just a phrase from an advertising jingle. It's much more than that. In fact, learning with fun should simply be a way of life.
Educators, teachers, specialists, parents, etc., these days, it takes more than a village to raise a child. It takes a lot of time, energy and, above all, love, to help tomorrow's adults develop to their full potential.
It's a proven fact that, whether it's helping a toddler acquire general knowledge, working on a youngster's concentration or even getting a child to open up about personal problems, play is often the best way to help them succeed.
Playing is synonymous with pleasure, not work. When the "fun" mode is engaged, there's much more openness, less rigidity, to the learning we want to put forward.
Playing games with family or friends teaches you how to live in society, nothing less. Respecting others, waiting your turn, managing stress, controlling impulsivity, etc. are all social behaviors of great importance in everyday life. Knowing how to be a good loser, but also a good winner, are also strengths that can be developed through playing. (By the way, many adults could play more to develop all these skills, couldn't they...? ???? )
Solving mathematical problems, developing your sense of observation, sharpening your concentration, stimulating your memory, etc. sound like work when you read them, but on a game board, they take on a whole new meaning!
If an apple a day keeps the doctor away forever, here we like to think that a game a day keeps you happy forever. Whether at school or at home, children are sure to benefit.
Learning while having fun wins! (Oops, we may have a jingle after all! What do you say? ???? )
